ICA has launched a free Mistika 10 course, suited for all Colorists, VFX and finishing artists who are looking to expand their creative skillset
Offered completely free of charge, the official ICA course “Mistika Essentials” will kick off on Friday, 12 February 2021 and will be available to new and existing Mistika Boutique and Ultima users and everyone else looking to add another finishing and color-grading software to their expertise.

The course
Mistika 101: Mistika Essentials
This is a set of four webinars where you will learn all the fundamental features in Mistika. You’ll learn all the fundamentals to have a first experience with Mistika and creatively explore its amazing toolset. This is a course suited for those Colorists, VFX artists or Post Production Generalists that want to add another software tool to their skillset. The classes are aimed to ease the transition from other tools to Mistika
You Will Learn
Day 01: How to install & configure Mistika, create a User, get familiar with the User Interface, import media, import an EDL, move around Mistika’s infinite timespace, understand the Node stack philosophy on Mistika and brief introduction to the color grading tools.
Day 02: Extensive look to the color tools, learn the order of operations inside the color grading effect. Add layers/vectors, use the keyer and add shapes. Basic color management. Quick Editing in the timespace, learn basic commands, interactively use the mouse and command gestures to use the timespace to your advantage.
Day 03: Working with different types of media, how to work with embedded alpha clips. Make simple compositions with the and learn how to do a simple online.
Day 04: Prepare your timeline for export, learn how to export single clips, create render presets. Render to Sequential Files and Movie files.
The Instructor
Francisco Ramos Howell is a professional colorist and HDR Workflow specialist with more than ten years of experience in the industry. He got familiar with Mistika starting his professional career as a Product Specialist at SGO, showcasing Mistika Ultima all around the world at trade shows and conferences, as well as offering technical and operational support together with training for international clients such as El Colorado, NHK Korea, Sky UK, OnSight UK and many others. Francisco, also known as “Paco” continued his path as a Mistika Senior Colorist & Online Stereographer at Sky UK where he contributed to the launch of the Sky3D channel where Mistika played a stellar role in all the Online, Color Grading and Finishing processes for the stereoscopic channel. He also completed Color and Workflow design, for many renowned Sky productions, such as the award-winning show Inside the Mind of Leonardo.
During the past four years, Paco has been working as a Freelance artist, designing ACES color workflows for Films like “Unfortunate Stories” & the Netflix Series “Hache”. Paco is very involved in educational initiatives and helps to expand the Spanish knowledge base in offering ACES, SDR & HDR Color Management training for companies in Spain.
Paco is still in constant contact with the SGO Development team, providing his professional insight and feedback for Mistika Boutique and Ultima development plans.
