The 3rd IBC Colorist Mixer was held on Saturday 10th September at a fantastic canal side venue Felix Meritis in Amsterdam. People arrived by bicycle, boat, scooter, tram, some of us even walked! The weather during IBC was the best I’ve witnessed, so people arrived in good spirits, looking forward to a fantastic night.
The Mixer is all made possible by the help of our sponsors, who all contributed towards the event and the raffle.
The evening was started by our special guest CSI co-founder Jim Wicks CSI, who officially launched the Colorist Society International in Europe and filled us in on a few of the CSI things we can look forward to in 2017. He asked for a show of hands from CSI members and I think he was surprised by how positive the response was. The CSI sponsored the Mixer giveaway, this year a phone power pack, which proved a hit as I saw a few people using them straight away.
Next up was the ColourLab quiz. We wanted to take it up a level from previous years, so we introduced electronic buzzers. The crowd was split into 10 teams, based on their wristbands. Good banter between Dado and the teams meant it was a great way of getting people mixing and talking at the start of the evening. Champagne for the winners.
We had 200 guests from all over the world based in the following cities:
- Berlin 23
- London 17
- Amsterdam 12
- Madrid 12
- Cairo 9
- Hamburg 5
- Stockholm 4
- Los Angeles 4
The evening was rounded off by the world famous Mixer raffle.
15 prizes raffled by the never ruffled Simon Walker CSI.
The prizes had previously been published via www.coloristmixer.com, Facebook and Twitter – we also had postcards and banners listing what was on offer. So we figured if you won, you’d know what to pick.
The winners, when drawn, had 10 seconds to pick their prize. This added to the crown participation, particularly when they started counting down from 10-1. This meant the raffle went quickly and the audience got to see exactly what each prizewinner chose.
The first name drawn was that of Peder Morganthaler, who picked the Digital Vision Nucoda. Huge thanks to the sponsors who donated prizes here are pictures of some of the winners.
Lastly big thank you to Guy Molin CSI and the NBF, who really made the event happen. See you next year.
