Back in the Classroom, Burbank 2023
I have just returned from Abelcine in Burbank, California having run classroom training for the first time in 3.5 years! This time we switched things up a little with students joining the workshop via ZOOM alongside those in the classroom.
I had a dedicated camera and a Lav mic so I could walk around the classroom addressing questions from the floor. This meant that the online students could interreact as all the ZOOM questions would come via the classroom speakers. The media was made available via Frame io 5 days before the workshop started so everybody could get acquainted with the footage well before the bell rang.
The classroom students had Mac desktop machines with a dedicated 24’ viewer for their Resolve GUI. Some also bought in their own grading monitors and control surfaces.
I presented one of the world’s first Resolve 18.5 workshops. Although still in Beta the students really welcomed the early exposure to the new 18.5 code released at NAB in Las Vegas. It proved really stable and promoted lots of new questions.
New for 2023 is that everybody gets to keep the class media and the ZOOM screen recordings, a welcome bonus and a great asset for learning going forward.
Students from all over the US, Canada and Puerto Rico joined across 3 workshops. RG101 Resolve for Beginners. RG201 Advanced Resolve Techniques and the RG301 Looks and Matching.
Here are some of the student testimonials.
“I would highly recommend this course to anybody that wants to learn the ins and outs of Resolve. I have been a colorist for over 40 years and still learnt so much!”
