Tim Kreider writes what I think far more eloquently than I, because after all he is a professional writer. But he is plagued by the same problem many of us have – requests to work for free. He explains the insult, the impracticality and the long term damage the trend causes. Nobody is saying never do it, just know what the results ultimately are.
Please read this article whether you are a producer or a colorist, or indeed a cinematographer or a writer. Remember, a professional colorist (or insert your career here) is someone who makes a living at what they do. No matter how well you grade you can’t live off free jobs.
