A big show this year, and we all experienced the rush. In fact it was the second busiest IBC ever with 48,164 attendees from 140 countries. (The busiest show was 2008 with about 5% more visitors)
The show floor was also bigger (100, 000 sq meters) as they opened a new thirteenth hall. In all there were 1,300 exhibitors
As expected there was a lot of stereo 3D on show, and many of the awards went to s3D related companies.
Super Hi-Vision from NHK also continues to impress, as it has the last couple of years. It has 16 times more resolution than HD, ( 7680 x 4320) and is 60 progressive frames a second. The cameras have three 33 megapixel sensors and there was a Super Hi-Vision 58” plasma screen.
I did not get to see much as the Digital Vision stand was incredibly busy. I had a lot of fun showing Film Master, with its new noise reducer “Clarity” and keyer “I-Keyer” (pronounced IKEA of course!). Digital Vision also showed the new “Precision” panels for the first time and they look and feel great. These panels have 5 touch screens at least 7 thumbsticks, and 4 joyballs. Just awesome. There are still a couple of places on the Film Master and other London classes https://icolorist.com/Courses.html
As I said I did not get to see much, but Warren showed me the coolest gadget – an I-Pad app for virtual joyballs on Apple Color.
Resolve on Mac was officially launched and naturally attracted huge interest. Warren and Blake will say more on that. Resolve class dates are confirmed in London and Singapore.
The favorite product that I heard of was the Dolby monitor
IBC 2011 will be held Sept 8-13, 2011 in Amsterdam again
